Metabolic Body composition

$229

Two of the most clinically meaningful measures of metabolic health, combined in a single session.

What is it?

Your resting metabolic rate tells you how your body uses energy at rest — the true calorie burn, the fuel mix, the metabolic flexibility. Your body composition tells you what your body is actually made of — the fat, the lean mass, and where it sits. Together, they give you a complete picture that neither measurement can provide alone.

The Metabolic Body Composition package combines a direct RMR assessment using the Breezing Pro indirect calorimeter with a full 8-site ISAK skinfold body composition analysis — the internationally standardised, gold standard method used in elite sport and clinical practice worldwide.

If you want to understand your metabolism and your body in one visit, this is it.

What's included

Resting Metabolic Rate (Breezing Pro)

A direct measure of your resting calorie burn using clinical indirect calorimetry — measuring both oxygen consumption and CO2 production simultaneously. Not an estimate from a formula. Not a prediction from your age and weight. A real measurement of what your body is actually doing at rest.

Your results include your true daily calorie requirement, your respiratory exchange ratio (RER) showing the balance of fat versus carbohydrate your body burns at rest, and a practical interpretation of what your metabolism tells us about your current metabolic health and flexibility.

8-Site ISAK Body Composition

A comprehensive skinfold assessment at eight standardised anatomical sites, performed by a Level 1 ISAK-certified practitioner using calibrated calipers. Each site is measured in a consistent, repeatable sequence — the same international protocol used by professional sport teams and high performance programmes.

The 8-site protocol covers the tricep, bicep, subscapular, iliac crest, supraspinale, abdominal, front thigh, and medial calf — giving a detailed picture of both total subcutaneous fat and regional fat distribution. Results are reported as a sum of skinfolds in millimetres alongside body fat percentage and lean mass estimates, benchmarked against sport-specific and population normative ranges.

Results debrief

Both sets of results are reviewed together in a single debrief — connecting the metabolic picture (how your body burns energy) with the compositional picture (what your body is made of) to produce practical, integrated recommendations for nutrition, training, and lifestyle.

Why these two tests work together

RMR and ISAK answer different but complementary questions.

RMR answers: how many calories does my body need, and what fuel is it preferring right now? A high resting RER suggests carbohydrate dependence and potential metabolic inflexibility. A low resting RER suggests efficient fat oxidation at baseline. This matters for how you should eat and train.

ISAK answers: what is my body actually made of, and how is it distributed? Sum of skinfolds tracked over time is the most reliable way to monitor real body composition change — more sensitive to genuine fat loss or muscle gain than weight alone, and more repeatable than other field methods.

Together they give you both sides of the equation — input and structure — in a way that makes each result more useful than it would be in isolation.
