What is it?
The Metabolic Awakening is a two-part session that pairs a direct measure of how your body uses energy at rest with a guided breathwork practice that shows you how to shift that state, on demand.
First, we measure your resting metabolic rate using the Breezing Pro indirect calorimeter — giving you a true picture of your baseline calorie burn, your fuel mix at rest, and the health of your metabolic function. Then, in the same visit, Luise leads you through a personalised functional breathwork session built around what the RMR reveals and what you're working toward.
The two parts of this session are designed to work together. The RMR tells you what your body is doing. The breathwork gives you a tool to directly influence your nervous system state, your stress response, and ultimately your metabolic health over time. Understanding and acting on them together is more valuable than either on its own.
What we cover
Part 1 — Resting Metabolic Rate (Breezing Pro) A direct measure of your resting calorie burn and respiratory exchange ratio (RER) using clinical indirect calorimetry. Both oxygen consumption and CO2 production are measured simultaneously — not estimated. Your RER tells us the ratio of fat to carbohydrate your body burns at rest, which is a meaningful window into metabolic flexibility and overall metabolic health.
Part 2 — Functional Breathwork (individual session) A one-to-one breathwork session with Luise, tailored to your needs and informed by your RMR results. Beginning with a BOLT score assessment to establish your breathing baseline, the session covers practical techniques for:
Parasympathetic activation and stress reduction
Nervous system regulation and resilience
Sleep onset and recovery protocols
CO2 tolerance and breathing pattern correction
You leave with a personalised home breathwork protocol to use between now and your next visit.

Anyone who wants to understand their metabolism and immediately start doing something about it. Particularly relevant for people managing stress, disrupted sleep, or metabolic health concerns; those who feel permanently switched on and find it hard to recover; and athletes looking to understand their resting physiology alongside their exercise capacity.

Allow 75–90 minutes. RMR takes approximately 35–40 minutes including set-up and results review. The breathwork session runs 45 minutes.

Preparation
Fast for a minimum of 4–5 hours before the session. Overnight fasting preferred.
No exercise for at least 12 hours beforehand
No caffeine on the day
Arrive having rested quietly for at least 10–15 minutes before the RMR begins
Water is fine
