What's included:
Resting Metabolic Rate (Breezing Pro) A direct measure of how many calories your body burns at rest, using clinical indirect calorimetry — not a formula or estimate. Includes respiratory exchange ratio (RER), showing the balance of fat versus carbohydrate your body relies on at baseline. Relevant for anyone managing energy levels, body composition, or metabolic health.
Functional Fitness Assessment A validated battery of physical assessments covering:
Grip strength — an independent predictor of cardiovascular risk and all-cause mortality
Five-times chair stand — lower body strength, power, and functional mobility
Single-leg stance — balance and proprioceptive function, a key marker of fall risk and neurological health
Mobility screen — functional range of movement across key joints and patterns
Each result is benchmarked against population norms for age and sex. Together with the RMR result, these four domains produce a partial functional fitness age — a meaningful and actionable picture of where each participant sits relative to their peers, and which areas would benefit most from attention.
The fifth and most heavily weighted domain in the full functional fitness age calculation is VO2max — the single strongest predictor of longevity in the scientific literature. VO2max is added at the C-Suite Partner tier, completing the full assessment and significantly deepening the picture.
Group Breathwork Workshop (60 minutes) A practical, evidence-based introduction to breathwork for stress management, cognitive performance, and recovery. Covers the physiology of breathing and its direct relationship to the stress response, CO2 tolerance, and nervous system state — then moves immediately into guided practice. Participants leave with two or three techniques they can apply the same day.
This is not a relaxation class. It is a practical skill set grounded in respiratory physiology, applicable in real time, in real situations — at a desk, before a presentation, after a difficult conversation, or at 2am when sleep won't come.
Blood Lactate Step Testing Blood lactate is measured at each stage of the exercise test, identifying the precise intensities at which the body's energy systems shift — the aerobic threshold (LT1) and the anaerobic threshold (LT2). These thresholds define the training zones that are actually meaningful for each individual, as opposed to generic heart rate zones built from population averages.
INSCYD Metabolic Profile The exercise and lactate data is fed into the INSCYD performance analysis platform — the same system used by professional endurance coaches and athletes worldwide, and one that Tristar is uniquely qualified to deliver in Canterbury. The INSCYD report adds:
VLaMax — maximum lactate production rate, the measure of glycolytic power
Fat and carbohydrate oxidation rates at every intensity
Lactate clearance rate
Carbohydrate consumption rate at race or target pace
Metabolic phenotype classification — a complete picture of how each person's body produces and manages energy, and what that means for their training, fuelling, and recovery

VO2max Assessment (VO2 Master Pro) A direct, breath-by-breath gas analysis measurement of maximum oxygen consumption. Not an estimate — an actual measurement of aerobic capacity benchmarked against population norms for age and sex.
The test format is matched to the individual. For participants in good health and comfortable with exercise, a maximal incremental test is performed on the treadmill or Wattbike Proton. For participants who are older, less active, or have relevant health considerations, a submaximal protocol is used — including the option of a 6-minute walk test with the VO2 Master worn throughout. Both formats produce valid, clinically meaningful data.
Session format The Elite package runs across a morning and afternoon, or across two consecutive days, at Tristar Performance. The extended session format ensures adequate recovery between assessments and time for a thorough results debrief.
Results debrief Each participant receives a written results summary and a brief individual debrief. Results are private — not shared with the organisation unless the participant chooses to share them.
