What is it?

A single, focused 1:1 breathwork session tailored entirely to you — your breathing patterns, your goals, and what's most useful to you right now.

Individual sessions draw on the Oxygen Advantage framework and can lean toward functional breathwork (stress, sleep, recovery, nervous system regulation) or performance breathwork (CO2 tolerance, nasal breathing at intensity, athletic efficiency) depending on what you need. In practice, most people need elements of both — and a 1:1 session is the best way to find out where to focus.

You don't need to know which type of breathwork is right for you before you book. That's what the session is for.

What we address

Every session begins with a functional breathing assessment, including your BOLT score — a simple, validated measure of CO2 tolerance and breathing efficiency that takes less than two minutes and gives an immediate, objective picture of your starting point. From there the session is shaped around what the assessment reveals and what you're trying to change.

Depending on your needs, a session might cover any combination of:

Format

60 minutes, 1:1

Available in person at Tristar Performance in Rangiora, or online via video call. The online format works just as well — all you need is a quiet space and a device with a camera.

The session follows a consistent structure:

  1. Brief intake conversation — what's brought you here, what you're hoping to change, any relevant health or training context

  2. Functional breathing assessment — BOLT score and observation of your breathing mechanics at rest

  3. Guided practice — working through techniques matched to your assessment findings and goals, with time to embed each one before moving on

  4. Home protocol — a simple, specific practice you can use immediately between now and your next session

You leave with a clear understanding of your current breathing patterns, why they matter, and exactly what to do about them.

  • All individual sessions and the 6-week programme are available in person at Tristar Performance in Rangiora, or online via video call. Performance breathwork translates well to an online format — the practice itself requires no specialist equipment, only a quiet space and, ideally, a heart rate monitor for some sessions.
