Quarterly Remote INSCYD Test
What is it?
A single PPD analysis gives you a snapshot. Four across the year gives you a training programme with a feedback loop — and a story of adaptation that shows exactly whether what you're doing is working.
The PPD Quarterly package includes four INSCYD Power Performance Decoder analyses and debrief calls across a 12-month period, timed to align with your training phases and competition calendar. Each retest shows how your VO2max, VLaMax, thresholds, and fuel use have shifted since the previous test — giving you objective evidence of adaptation and a precise read on which metabolic variables still need work.
This is how serious endurance athletes and their coaches use INSCYD. Not as a one-off assessment, but as a recurring tool that makes training accountable.
What the results tell you
VO2max — modelled from your power data
VLaMax — your maximum lactate production rate, the glycolytic measure most testing ignores
LT1 and LT2 — lactate threshold estimates at aerobic and anaerobic threshold
Fat and carbohydrate oxidation rates across all intensities
Carbohydrate consumption rate at race pace — directly applicable to fuelling strategy
Metabolic phenotype — your classification across the five Tristar phenotypes
Personalised training zones — in power and heart rate
Full INSCYD report with Tristar branding
Video debrief call — a thorough walkthrough of your results and what they mean for training
What changes between tests
VO2max — tracks your aerobic ceiling development in response to training load
VLaMax — tracks changes in glycolytic capacity (up or down, depending on your training emphasis)
Threshold positions — LT1 and LT2 relative to VO2max, showing whether your economy and threshold efficiency are improving
Fuel use — changes in fat oxidation capacity and carbohydrate dependence
Carbohydrate consumption at race pace — direct input for evolving fuelling strategy as fitness changes
-
Cyclists, runners and triathletes who take their training seriously and want a measurement system that holds it accountable. Athletes working with a coach who wants recurring objective data to guide periodisation decisions. Those who have completed a single PPD and want to track their development across a full season.
Note: available for cycling or running.

The test efforts take approximately 60–90 minutes to complete including warm-up. Allow 2–3 days for report production after data receipt. The debrief call runs approximately 45–60 minutes.
All prices NZD inclusive of GST.
How it works
The same process as the single PPD — structured maximal power efforts on your power metre, data sent to Tristar, full INSCYD report produced and debriefed on a video call. Four times per year, spaced approximately every 12–13 weeks to capture meaningful physiological change between tests.
We help you time the tests intelligently — typically after a base block, after a build phase, pre-competition, and post-season — so each test tells you something different and useful about where your physiology is at that moment.
